Late last month, the Town of Perth announced it has awarded a contract for its Active Transportation Plan to Parsons Inc., following a request for proposal process from qualified vendors.
The project will review the town’s current trails, bike lanes, and other transportation outlets, and identify opportunities for enhancing active transportation in Perth.
“Perth residents are active, and this is an opportunity for us to look at how we can build more opportunities for active transportation throughout town,” states Cathy McNally, Director of Community Services. “We’re really looking forward to working with Parsons Inc. as their team has an incredible amount of experience working with municipalities, specifically tailored to active transportation.”
A media release from the town explains that active modes of transportation are important components of Perth’s transportation landscape. “Not only do they contribute to healthier lifestyles and a more vibrant community, they allow people to move through town in a safe, affordable, and efficient manner.”
Engagement with community partners will take place in early 2024, along with a public information session which will include a presentation of the Draft Pedestrian and Cycling Network.
Further details, including meeting dates, will be released as they become available.
