Lanark Village resident facing charges following unsafe pass on Highway 7 bridge

An unsafe pass of a transport truck on a Highway 7 bridge over the Mississippi River led to charges for a Lanark Village resident.

Lanark OPP report in a media release that on April 16, just before 6:30 a.m., an officer on routine patrol observed the above maneuver.

The Automated Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) also advised the officer that the owner of the vehicle was registered as a suspended driver.

The 56-year-old driver from the Village of Lanark, has been charged under the Highway traffic Act with:

  • Drive while under suspension
  • Drive left of centre within 30 meters of a bridge

Charges have not been proven in court.

The driver was also charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with fail to surrender an insurance card.

He was issued a summons and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 14, 2024.
