OPP had an eventful day on Monday after a driver accused of stealing part of a tractor trailer took officers across multiple highways and counties.

Police say that on Oct. 16, just before noon, officers were dispatched to Leeds County for a complaint of a tractor from a tractor trailer unit being taken.

Officers observed the vehicle and police say traffic stop was attempted, however the vehicle failed to stop. Due to public safety concerns, police terminated the pursuit.

With the assistance of OPP Aviation Services, the vehicle was tracked across numerous highways and counties to the City of London, where members of the London Police Service successfully deployed a tire deflation device bringing the truck to a stop and took the individual into custody.

Barry Pollard, age 37, from Lennox and Addington, was charged with the following offences:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Dangerous operation
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Charges have not been proven in court.

Pollard was held in custody for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Oct. 17.
