Grenville police are using a new program to try and increase residential and commercial security in the area.

The CAMSafe Program aims to create a database of residential and commercial security cameras to provide a resource for police when investigating crimes and offences.

The CAMSafe database will allow a police officer to view details of registered addresses, such as property owner contact information.

Police may request to view camera footage, using the property owner contact information provided.

According to Inspector Stephan Neufeld, “CAMSafe is an excellent community safety program that allows residents and business owners a part to play in keeping our communities safe through connected technology.”

Interested community members may provide contact information and camera location.

The database will not allow access to residents’ security cameras or cloud-based accounts.

Registrants will only be able to view their own information, and can delete their account or change their information at any time.
