Andrew Gilchrist, a pipefitter from, Belleville, has played the lottery for over 40 years, and he finally won big.

“I was sipping on a coffee in my car, while playing my ticket,” Gilchrist recalled while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I did more than a double take. It was more like a quadruple take! I was surprisingly calm, yet in shock. I’m still not sure it has sunk in!”

Andrew first shared the news of his $100,000 win with his sister first.

“I teased her at first and tried to act cool. She answered with, ‘What’s going on? Did you win the lottery?’” he laughed.

Recounting his winning moment, Andrew says he got chills. “You always dream about winning and keep thinking maybe one day it will be you!”

Andrew plans to pay some bills and share his win with family.
