Donna Tate, mother of Steven Tate, who was found deceased along Highway 15 on Nov. 8, 2023, has issued a tearful plea for answers in a video released by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Thursday, June 20.

“I miss his smile every day, I miss his hugs every day,” Donna says in the video. “He was everything to me. He was my only child.”

The search continues for the driver responsible for Steven Tate’s death. Though he was located on Nov. 8, 2023, police believe he was struck by a dark-coloured sedan or hatchback at around 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.

“That car may have sustained damage to the front passenger side,” states Detective Inspector Marty McConnell in the same video. “We want to hear from anyone who may have information, or who may have seen a vehicle matching that description.”

“Do the honest thing and turn yourself in,” Donna says through tears in the video. “They say there’s no worse pain in the world than losing your child and I have been in pain since my child died.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Lanark OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
