If you’re heading down to the Trenton Santa Claus Parade this Sunday, Nov. 26, don’t forget to bring donations like pet food and supplies to help local animals in need.

Volunteers from a local classic car club called Bay of Quinte Auto Odyssey (a group affectionately known as ‘Canadian Bombshell Beauties’) will be collecting donations for Fixed Furlife, a charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, spaying and neutering of the homeless pets in the Quinte area.

“Every year we do a huge car show which funds are donated to the TMH Foundation and Fixed Furlife,” explains group member Stacey Cook. “This year we decided to put a float together and collect pet supplies.”

Cook says this is the group’s first year collecting food and supplies for pets.

“The Canadian Bombshell Beauties and many other volunteers have been working on a float and we will have many walkers collecting and handing out candy,” she says.

This year’s parade – the 70th annual for Trenton – will be dedicated to longtime volunteer, Bryan Swartman, who retired from the parade after being Parade Marshall for close to 40 years.  He assisted with the float line-up, the behind the scenes logistics and ensuring the parade left Centennial Park on time.

“The Santa Claus Parade does not happen without the dedicated volunteers behind the scenes,” states Suzanne Andrews, CEO at the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce.  “Bryan has been leading the efforts of the volunteer fire fighters and other volunteers for so many years and his efforts are truly appreciated, we are pleased to be able to honour his impact this way.”

The parade leaves the Community Gardens (Centennial Park) at 4:30 p.m., following Campbell Street before turning left on Dundas Street East and heading over the Veteran Skyway Bridge. It will then go through downtown Trenton along Dundas Street West, dispersing at Queen Street.
