‘Hallmark movie experience’: Stirling’s Holiday Market coming this Friday, Nov. 3

Stirling’s Market in the Village is hosting its fourth annual Holiday Market this Friday, with a slightly different layout than previous years.

Stirling downtown streets have been under construction for the last two years, with that market’s main street, Mill Street, now closed for repairs. While in the past the street has been used to create a large walkabout filled with stalls, this year the many businesses joining the market will move to the parking lot next to the village’s covered bridge.

“The downtown in Stirling has been severely affected by construction for the past two years,” Jess Rogers, market organizer, told Quinteist. “The Holiday Market has always provided a welcome boost for the businesses and vendors to kick off the holiday season.”

Rogers said that regardless of the location change, the Holiday Market is always a special event for this time of year.

“Everyone describes the market as a Hallmark movie experience,” she said. “It’s so wonderful to see the downtown come alive. I’m confident this year will provide the same magical evening we’ve had in the past despite the change in location and challenges with construction.”

Markets like this are important to communities, according to Rogers, to help showcase the craftsmanship and talents found within the community, giving individuals a chance to build their skills for the public and for possible customers.

“[The market] helps boost our local economy, lower our carbon footprint, and provides a platform for budding artisans,” she explained. “It’s also a chance to support our service clubs and catch up with our neighbours while showcasing downtown Stirling to visitors from near and far.”

The Holiday Market will run from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Covered Bridge Parking Lot at 26 East Front St. in Stirling.
