In the early hours of Nov. 12, Brockville police responded to a report of suspicious activity involving a group of individuals boarding a van near the vicinity of King Street West and John Street. Eyewitnesses observed the van departing the scene, and allegedly disregarding a flashing red signal. Officers successfully traced the vehicle to the intersection of Stewart Blvd. and Highway 401.

Upon intercepting the van, law enforcement identified the driver as a 20-year-old male. Suspicions of impairment prompted the administration of a roadside breathalyzer test, registering a positive indication for intoxication. The individual was apprehended and escorted to the Brockville Police Service headquarters for further evaluation.

Following comprehensive testing confirming the driver’s state of impairment, the vehicle was impounded, the driver’s license suspended, and charges for operating a vehicle while under the influence, as well as operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding 80mg, were issued. The male was released under specific conditions, and is scheduled for a court appearance at a later date to address the charges.

Brockville police did not release the name of the suspect.
