Three charged after Brockville woman forced out of her apartment, assaulted

Brockville police report that in the early hours of Sunday, Dec. 17, a home invasion unfolded at a residential building on King Street East.

Police learned that multiple subjects, in possession of a handgun, entered into the victim’s apartment; they allegedly struck her in the head and forced her out of her unit and into a neighbouring apartment, where the assaults continued. Eventually, the subjects released the female victim.

The Brockville Police Service says officers responded quickly to secure the area. Members of the Brockville Police Service Emergency Response Team were called in to assist.

“The crime scene was contained and officers were able to eventually clear the suspects’ unit to check on the safety of everyone inside,” reads a release from Brockville police.

The victim was taken to hospital for significant, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police found and seized parts of an airsoft handgun, and three suspects were arrested and held for bail hearings. Police say the suspects are local to Brockville, but do not reside in the building where the incident took place.

The breakdown of charges against the suspects is as follows:

  • A 31-year-old male faces charges of robbery using a firearm, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, assault with a weapon, break and enter, and kidnapping with confinement.
  • A 25-year-old female is charged with unlawfully entering a dwelling, assault causing bodily harm, kidnapping with confinement, and robbery with violence.
  • Lastly, a 24-year-old female is charged with assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, break and enter, robbery with a weapon, and kidnapping with confinement.

Police did not name the suspects.
