Brockville is gearing up for the arrival of Santa Claus and the River of Lights event, prompting temporary road closures and detours in the downtown area.
On Saturday, Nov. 25, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., a section of King Street extending from North Augusta Road to Edward Street will experience a temporary closure as the city welcomes the much-awaited Santa Claus Parade. This closure will affect all intersections along King Street within this stretch, allowing only emergency services vehicles and local traffic access. The City of Brockville emphasizes the importance of adhering to posted construction signage and anticipates delays during this time.
In light of the road closures, diversions will be put in place to guide traffic. The city authorities advise the public to consider using alternative routes to minimize disruption to their travel plans. While the parade festivities unfold, businesses within the detour zones will remain open and are keen to welcome patrons.
In addition, Blockhouse Island Parkway is scheduled for nightly closures from 11:15 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., starting Nov. 19 and lasting until Jan. 5 for the River of Lights event. This closure aims to accommodate the event’s setup and ensure a safe and immersive experience for attendees.
