In a news release, Brockville police state that officers were called to the RBC on Parkdale Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19 to investigate a suspicious request made by a man who was “in the bank and upset.” Originally, there were concerns that this individual was falling victim to fraud.
Officers then discovered that the man had been consuming alcohol and had reportedly driven to the bank. After more investigation, the suspect was “arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for testing,” police say.
Police say they then discovered the man was not operating the vehicle over 80mg, but had been drinking and was currently prohibited from driving. After they searched the man, he was also found to be in possession of cocaine, according to the news release.
He was later released after being charged with operation while prohibited, possession of cocaine and fail to comply with probation and released with a court date. Charges have not been proven in court. Police did not name the suspect.
The investigation in relation to any potential fraudulent activity is still under investigation.
