The Brockville Police Service reports that on the evening of Jan.11, around 8:15 p.m., law enforcement received a report concerning a reportedly inebriated individual found asleep on a table inside Pizza Pizza on Parkedale Avenue.
Responding officers conducted an inquiry, determining that the individual in question was a 60-year-old male exhibiting signs of alcohol impairment. Police say that further investigation revealed the man had been operating a motor vehicle.
Subsequently, the individual was apprehended for impaired driving and transported to the Brockville Police Service for additional testing.
Police say the man displayed uncooperative behaviour, refusing to comply with the request for a breath sample. It is worth noting that the act of refusing to provide a breath sample carries the same consequences as the offence of operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding 80mg.
As a result of the incident, the individual’s driver’s license was suspended, and his vehicle was impounded. He was released under specified conditions pending a future court date, where he will face charges related to operating a vehicle while impaired and refusal to provide a breath sample.
