Santa Claus is back in Gananoque
The Rotary Club of Gananoque has invited Santa to Town Hall Park on Sunday afternoon.
And the rest of the community is invited, too.
The Rotary Club will be hosting the Whoville Café at Candy Cane Lane, which will feature a variety of activities to take in this holiday season.
People who attend will be able to welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus as they arrive at 1 p.m. thanks to the Gananoque Fire Service; live Christmas music will be played by Tim Hallaman from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m; the Grinch will pay a visit; a Grinch Scavenger Hunt with a gift from the Grinch will then be had; free hot chocolate will be offered thanks to Laverne’s Eatery.
There will also be free hot dogs, free cookies, a Gananoque Secondary School Interact Club Fundraising Bake Sale, available fresh homemade cinnamon buns, along with numerous activities at the Gananoque Public Library, including Thomas the Train, letters to Santa, Lego, crafts, colouring and free popcorn.
A Rotary clothesline will have free hats, scarves and mittens. The Rotary clothesline will be moved to the wrought iron fence beside Moroni’s Restaurant and Sports Bar for the remainder of the week.
1000 Islands History Museum holding event
People who attend the 1000 Islands History Museum on Saturday will be able to get crafty.
The museum will host a Crafty Christmas event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. free of charge. All materials used for the event will be provided, and all exhibits will still be open throughout the day.
Gord Brown outdoor rink open
The Gord Brown Memorial Canada 150 Outdoor Rink is officially open as of Thursday. Visit the town’s website to review the schedule.
The rink officially opens Monday for private rentals, offering a full schedule pending weather.
The public works staff has added a new feature to the rink this year, installing white lights over the rink. Town staff says this will be used for themed public skate nights. Dates and themes will soon be announced.
