A world champion is coming to Gananoque, in the form of a figure skater.
Canadian figure skating legend Kurt Browning, along with his wife, Alissa Czisney, will take to the ice at the Lou Jeffries Gananoque and TLTI Recreation Centre for a day of lessons and, more importantly, fun.
“Kurt and Alissa will be in Gananoque from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 7 p.m.,” said Sharon Nixon, organizer and head coach of the Gananoque Skating Club.
“It is a one-day seminar for figure skaters and hockey skill development program at night. All figure skaters/coaches are welcome to attend.”
Registration and scheduling information is on the Kingston Skating Academy website.
The public is welcome to attend and watch but it is not a show, as Browning has retired from performing but will be the choreographer for the Stars on Ice tour this spring.
“This is the sixth year he has come to (the area) to inspire up-and-coming skaters and motivate coaches,” said Nixon.
