Prepare to be mesmerized by an unparalleled musical experience as genre-defying virtuosos Bridge & Wolak take center stage at the Brockville Arts Centre on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. Their one-of-a-kind multimedia spectacle, Tangorium, promises an evening of musical mastery, innovation, and pure entertainment.
Having captivated audiences across Canada and the United States, Bridge & Wolak are far from your typical clarinet and accordion duo. Fusing classical music, folk traditions, and improv comedy, the two have garnered acclaim for their genre-bending performances. In Tangorium, they push artistic boundaries further, blending intimate Tango classics from the 1930s, the revolutionary compositions of Argentinian maestro Astor Piazzolla’s Tango Nuevo, and original symphonic creations. Classical, cabaret, rock, and heavy metal music seamlessly meld with Tango rhythms, creating an unforgettable auditory experience.
Adding a symphonic dimension to their performance, the Queen’s University Symphony Orchestra will accompany Bridge & Wolak. Together, they pay homage to the rich tapestry of Tango, exploring its evolution through time and musical genres.
Samia O’Day, President of the Brockville Concert Association (BCA), expressed her excitement about the upcoming event, stating:
“What a way to close out the BCA’s 75th World of Music anniversary series. With Tangorium, Bridge & Wolak are going to wow our audience, bringing an innovative blend of music that transcends boundaries.”
Bridge & Wolak’s dedication to music education is as profound as their performance skills. Michael Bridge, a recent Ph.D. graduate in accordion performance from the University of Toronto, and Kornel Wolak, Assistant Professor of clarinet at Queen’s University, are celebrated for their mentorship programs and university teaching. Their commitment aligns seamlessly with the BCA’s mission, emphasizing music education and youth involvement.
Dubbed the “Victor Borges of the 21st Century,” Bridge & Wolak invite the audience to witness their musical mastery and charm firsthand. The Brockville Concert Association extends gratitude to the Ontario Arts Council and various charitable, non-profit, private, and individual donors for their support, making events like Tangorium possible.
Tickets for this extraordinary musical journey, Tangorium!, are available for purchase at the Brockville Arts Centre.
