Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands council will meet today (Monday, Dec. 11) to discuss the possibility of approving the award of tender for the construction of the Lyndhurst viewing platform to Kehoe Marine Construction Ltd in the amount of $58,731.80.

Coun. Angela Kelman, meanwhile, has put forth a recommendation regarding a pedestrian walkway along the Lyndhurst Bridge.

Kelman would like to see council recommend to the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville that a designated pathway for pedestrians be included in the design of the rehabilitation of the Lyndhurst Bridge, with appropriate signs, and reconsideration given to the speed limit through the village.

Coun. Jeff Lackie has put forward a recommendation that staff be directed to bring back a report regarding further information of the St. Lawrence Cruise Lines request for the use of dock space for overnight docking at the Ivy Lea Wharf and Boat Launch on six visits during the 2024 season at the Feb. 5, Committee of the Whole meeting.

Also, as part of Monday’s meeting, council will consider approving Dec. 18 as the special council meeting date for discussion on the Leeds Fire Station No. 2.
