Brockville Police report that on Sept. 2, at about 4 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was located and stopped shortly after in the area of George Street, and the driver was identified to be a 17-year-old male. Police say officers were concerned with the driver, as it appeared he had been consuming alcohol and possessed a G2 licence. The subject then failed a roadside breath screening test and was placed under arrest.
Police say he was brought to the Brockville Police Service, where further testing confirmed that he was impaired.
His driver’s licence was suspended, the vehicle was impounded, and he was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired by alcohol – over 80mgs. Charges have not been proven in court.
The subject was released with a future court date.
