The Brockville General Hospital has issued a plea to local residents to use discretion in terms of the care they seek, as well as to remember kindness when interacting with hospital staff.
“We’re entering the new year with record levels of occupancy and volumes across all hospital services,” reads a social media post from the hospital. “Our staff is working hard to provide the community with safe, quality healthcare.”
The post suggests some ways members of the public can help.
If you have non-urgent issues, consider alternatives to care instead of the Emergency Department, such as your primary care provider or local pharmacy. People can also use Health811 or visit BrockvilleGeneralHospital.ca/RightCare to find out where to get the right care.
The release also reminds residents to “show kindness when interacting with all hospital staff. They are doing the best they can in difficult, stressful circumstances to give you the care you need.”
Residents are also reminded that the Emergency Department will “care for those most critically ill first.”
