In the early hours of Sunday, Brockville police conducted a routine traffic stop on Central Avenue, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs, cash, and weapons.
In a media release, police state that at approximately 2 a.m. on Oct. 29, officers discovered three occupants inside a stopped vehicle. The individuals were identified as a 54-year-old female and a 44-year-old male from Ottawa, along with a 35-year-old male from Brockville. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the occupants were in possession of a diverse assortment of narcotics, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, hash, morphine pills, adderall pills, hydromorphone pills, Xanax, Benzo tabs, cocaine, and steroids.
Additionally, the police found a knife and $7,300 in cash in the possession of the individuals. Police estimate street value of the seized drugs is approximately $160,000.
All three occupants were promptly arrested, and the items associated with the drug possession were confiscated during the operation. The charges brought against them include eight counts of possession of a substance in Schedule I, two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking a substance in Schedule IV, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, and possession of illicit cannabis. Charges have not been proven in court.
The trio is currently in custody and is set to appear for a bail hearing as the legal proceedings progress.
