Brockville police charge woman who refused to provide breath sample after collision

A woman who refused to provide a breath sample following a collision in Brockville was charged with impaired by local police.

Brockville police report that on Friday, May 24, at about 11:45 p.m., police received a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision on King Street West near St. Andrews Street.

“Officers arrived and discovered that one of the drivers of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment by alcohol,” a media release reads.

The 45-year-old female driver was arrested for impaired driving, and taken to the Brockville Police Service for breath sample testing. However, police say the refused to comply.

As a result, her vehicle was impounded, her driver’s licence suspended and she was charged with impaired driving and refusal to comply with demand. The charge of refusal to comply carries the same penalties as the charge of impaired driving. Police did not name the suspect.

She was released on conditions with a future court date.
