Brockville police arrest suspect in Hydro One break-and-enter after foot chase through woods

The Brockville Police Service says a suspect is facing multiple charges after an apparent break and enter of the Hydro One facility on Front Avenue.

Police say in a media release that officers responded to the area on April 28 at about 4 a.m. Their investigation revealed that there was a perimeter breach and a suspect had fled north from the area.

“Officers searched the area and actually observed a suspect attempting to hide with tools and a face mask,” the release reads.

The suspect then fled, was chased by officers through the wooded area. He was eventually caught while attempting to hide in the vicinity of Giant Tiger on Park Street, and identified to be a 30-year-old, male.

Police say the subject resisted arrest, however officers quickly gained control, recovering two chain saws, two batteries and a Sawzall. According to police, this totals an approximate value of $1,800.

The subject was charged with break and enter, disguise with intent, possession of break in tools and resist arrest.

He was eventually released with conditions and a future court date.
