Brighton man charged with fraud by PEC OPP for allegedly misappropriating over $80,000

UPDATE: Brighton man charged with fraud is former Trenton school principal

A Brighton man has been charged with fraud after allegedly misappropriating over $80,000 worth of funds.

On February 13, 2024, Prince Edward County OPP arrested and charged the suspect following of a lengthy fraud investigation.

“An organization reported that funds, over $80,000, had been misappropriated,” reads a media release. The OPP will not identify the name of the organization, as they are considered a victim.

Todd Bishop, age 51, from Brighton has been charged with:

  • Criminal breach of trust
  • Forgery – three counts
  • Fraud over $5,000 – four counts
  • Fraud under $5,000 – one count
  • Theft over $5,000 – four counts
  • Theft under $5,000 – one count

Charges have not been proven in court.

Bishop was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on February 29, 2024.
