Belleville woman charged with impaired after reportedly ‘swerving all over road,’ passing out behind wheel

A Belleville woman has been charged with impaired driving after a citizen complaint led to her being discovered passed out behind the wheel in the middle of Casey Road, police state in a media release.

The Belleville Police Service states on a media release that on April 6, officers responded to the area of Casey Road and Mitchell Road after receiving a call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was described as “swerving all over the road, hitting the shoulders of the road and driving very slowly.” Police were told that at one point, the vehicle went into the ditch.

Police attended the area and say they located the driver passed behind the wheel in the middle of Casey Road. The female driver, identified as a 39-year-old from Belleville, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported to the Belleville Police Service where she was found to be in excess of the legal limit, police say. As a result, she was charged with impaired driving and over 80. Charges have not been proven in court.

Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. She was released on an undertaking with a court date in May.
