On Nov. 21, just after 11:30 a.m., the Belleville Police Service responded to a shoplifting incident following a call reporting a female shoplifter leaving a North Front Street business.

Police say that staff at the scene maintained surveillance until law enforcement arrived, leading to the arrest of the woman on theft charges.

Upon closer investigation, police discovered the suspect was in possession of multiple stolen items allegedly pilfered from nearby stores. Police ensured the recovery and return of all stolen goods to their respective businesses.

In a surprising turn, the affected store owners opted not to pursue charges against the 61-year-old woman from Belleville. However, she was issued trespass notices by the authorities.
