Belleville resident charged after allegedly attacking others with wooden table leg

A Belleville woman is facing assault charges after allegedly wielding an unusual weapon against household members.

The Belleville Police Service states in a media release that just after 8 p.m. on Feb. 20, officers responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the city’s east end. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a female resident behaving aggressively. According to reports, she had attempted to strike others in the household with a wooden table leg. Further investigation revealed that the woman had also physically assaulted an individual and caused damage to property, police say.

As a result, a 24-year-old Belleville resident was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, and mischief.

She was detained for a bail hearing.
