Belleville police respond to two domestic assault incidents on March 5

The Belleville Police Service was called to address two separate domestic assaults on Tuesday, March 5.

According to a police media release, the first incident occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. in the city’s north end. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 39-year-old male from Belleville had allegedly assaulted a 56-year-old female and caused damage to the residence. The male suspect was arrested and charged with assault and mischief. He was then taken into custody at the Belleville Police Service and held for bail proceedings.

The second incident took place at 6:47 p.m. in the west end of the city. Police responded to reports of a domestic dispute and found that a 28-year-old male had reportedly assaulted a 20-year-old female. Following an investigation, the male suspect was arrested and charged with assault. He was later released from the Belleville Police Service on an Undertaking, with a scheduled court appearance set for March.

To safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of the victim, the identity of the accused individuals is being withheld.
