The Belleville Police Service is investigating an incident of vandalism at the ‘Field of Ability’ on Sidney Street.

The park, which was developed by the community to support those with special needs, was defaced sometime over last weekend by someone with a can of spray paint, police say.

City staff provided police with CCTV footage and a still image of a suspect caught in the act of painting a couple of roll-up doors at the site.

“The facility, which is located at the Parkdale Veterans Park, is unique and marked an important milestone in the city’s history in 2022 when it opened,” reads a media release from police. “The facility provides a rubberized field to welcome those with special needs for games of baseball.”

Anyone with information about this incident or the identity of anyone involved is asked to contact Const. Steven Genore at sgenore@bellevilleps.ca or Crime Stoppers at 613-969-8477.
