An investigation is underway regarding the theft of over $2,500 from a Belleville resident’s bank account in late 2023, the Belleville Police Service reports.

A media release explains that police were alerted to the incident on November 22, 2023, when the individual inadvertently left their debit card in an ATM at a bank located on North Front Street.

Upon their return, bank personnel informed the individual that their account had been accessed multiple times, resulting in the unauthorized withdrawal of more than $2,500. Officers reached out to the bank’s security team for assistance in identifying the suspect.

This week, police received images of the suspect captured at the time of the offense.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Const. Cory Mooney at cmooney@bellevilleps.ca.
