Belleville police looking for suspect after 14-year-old-girl narrowly escapes abduction in city’s east end

In a harrowing incident that unfolded on the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 9, the Belleville Police Service has issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance following a reported attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl in the city’s east end.

Police say the incident occurred around 3 p.m. when the young girl was walking along Southview Avenue. According to reports, she was approached by an adult male driving a white car. The male, whose identity remains unknown, allegedly asked the girl to enter his vehicle. When she refused, the situation escalated. The man reportedly jumped out of his car and attempted to physically pull the teenager into the vehicle against her will.

Thankfully, the girl managed to break free from the assailant’s grip and immediately dialed emergency services for assistance. Belleville police officers responded to the distress call, racing to the scene. However, upon arrival, neither the male suspect nor the vehicle could be located.

Authorities have described the suspect as a man of approximately six feet tall, with a medium build and short dark facial hair. The suspect was operating a white sedan at the time of the incident.
