Belleville police investigating after suspect reportedly attempted to coerce woman into car

On Dec. 10 at around 4 p.m., the Belleville Police Service responded to a reported suspicious incident on Dundas Street East near Herchimer Avenue.

Police state that an adult female informed authorities that a male driver in a champagne/beige sedan resembling a Toyota Camry had made repeated attempts to coerce her into his vehicle. The driver reportedly maneuvered onto the sidewalk and tried to persuade her by opening his car door.

The suspect is described as a white male aged between 50 to 60 years old, with short “salt and pepper” hair and a few days of uneven facial hair growth, weighing around 150 pounds; he was wearing a brown jacket and dark blue jeans.

Additionally, police received information suggesting another male in the vicinity might have recorded the incident on his cell phone. As a result, the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the case for further investigation.
