Belleville man facing drug, impaired driving charges after collision

Hollie Pratt-Campbell/Quinteist

A Belleville man is facing multiple charges after he was found sleeping in a car that appeared to have sustained heavy damage from a collision.

Police explain that on Friday, June 7, just after 5:40 a.m., police received a report of a large amount of vehicle debris on Bell Boulevard, near the entrance to the Quinte Mall. Police say the “amount of debris was consistent with a vehicle being in an accident.”

A short time later, a vehicle with heavy front-end damage was observed in a nearby parking lot. Police received a second call advising the driver of the damaged vehicle appeared to be asleep behind the wheel. Police attended and began to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

Officers charged Peter Rozon, 33, of Belleville with impaired operation of a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance (Fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking. Rozon was also charged with failing to report an accident, failing to report damage to a highway, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and possess two drivers licences under the Highway Traffic Act. Charges have not been proven in court.

He was released on an Undertaking for the criminal matters and issued summonses under the Highway Traffic Act all with a court date in July.
