A Belleville man, 68, was arrested after allegedly repeatedly calling for an ambulance, then becoming belligerent with hospital staff upon arrival.

A media release from the Belleville Police Service explains that shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, police received a call from the local paramedic dispatching centre advising staff were having issues with a would-be patient who was currently at Belleville hospital.

Police say that on Thursday alone, the male – who was highly intoxicated – called for an ambulance three times. When transported to the hospital, the individual would become belligerent with staff and leave the location.

According to hospital staff and paramedics, this pattern of behavior had been ongoing for several days this month alone.

Officers arrived and found the male was on conditions not to consume alcohol. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing Friday. Police did not name the accused.
