Beckwith resident charged with impaired driving following traffic complaint

A traffic complaint led to an impaired driving charge in Beckwith Township over the weekend. 

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Beckwith Township resident with impaired driving.

Lanark County OPP say in a media release that on Saturday, June 1, at about 2 p.m., officers respond to Kidd Road in Beckwith Township, where the vehicle from the complaint was located. Officers conducted a roadside screening test, and thedriver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Shannon MacKenzie, 48, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). This charge has not been proven in court.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 24. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
