3 from Smiths Falls, 1 from Carleton Place charged after drug busts on Lavinia Street, Aberdeen Avenue

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid in multiple charges following the execution of two search warrants.

In a media release, police state that on Nov. 16, various units within the OPP including the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Canine Unit, along with the Smiths Falls Police Service, jointly executed search warrants at locations on Lavinia Street and Aberdeen Avenue in Smiths Falls.

During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated a significant quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine, suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, suspected psilocybin, Canadian currency, ammunition, a knife, an axe, cell phones, tablets, and various other drug-related paraphernalia.

As a result of the operation, Justin McFadden, 38, from Smiths Falls, was apprehended and charged with multiple offences, including possession of schedule one substances (cocaine and methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of firearms or ammunition contrary to prohibition orders (four counts), careless storage of firearms, weapons, prohibited devices, or ammunition, and unauthorized possession of prohibited or restricted firearms.

Moreover, Suzette Evoy, 55, and Dennis Whan, 54, both residents of Smiths Falls, were arrested and charged with possession of schedule one substances (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a schedule three substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Additionally, Billie Carpenter, 29, from Carleton Place, faced charges of possession of schedule one substances (cocaine and methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

All accused individuals have been released from custody and are set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on January 29, 2024, to address the charges brought against them.
