12-year-old Brockville girl charged with theft, mischief

A young Brockville girl has been accused of mischief in relation to vandalism, as well as theft from a family member.

A media release explains that on June 17, police received multiple reports throughout the day concerning a 12-year-old girl involved in several offences.

The first incident was reported around 10 a.m., when police say they discovered the girl had spray-painted derogatory comments about another youth on a downtown property.

Police state that later that afternoon, it was discovered that she had also caused damage to a family member’s residence and stolen items.

The police located and arrested the girl. She was subsequently released to a guardian under specific conditions and given a future court date. The charges against her include theft under $5,000 and two counts of mischief under $5,000. Charges have not been proven in court.
